Step 1 MEASURING AND ORDERING
With a measuring tape, measure in metres your planned area and then use the formula L x W = m2 to work out how many metres you need.
Schedule your order for delivery of turf after preparatory work is completed and you are ready to install. Prompt installation on the day of delivery is crucial to a strong beginning for your lawn.

Step 2 SOIL PREPARATION
For best results rotary Hoe to a depth of 20cms. If you have a clay base soil add 100cms of sandy loam soil. Rake out level. Keep topsoil 1-2cm below edging or driveaway, this will make your turf flush when it is installed.
Step 3 TURF INSTALLATION
Install your lawn immediately upon delivery. Begin watering the lawn within 30 minutes of installation. Turf is a living plant that requires ground contact and moisture to survive’
Begin installing turf along the longest line, such as a driveway or sidewalk. Butt & push edges & ends against each other tightly, without stretching.
Avoid gaps or overlaps. Stagger the joins in each row in a brick-like fashion using a large sharp knife to trim corners etc. Avoid leaving small trips at outer edges as they will not retain moisture. On slopes, place the turf pieces across the slope.
Step 4 WATERING
Each site will have different watering requirements depending on slope, soil, shade, wind exposure, time of year & climatic conditions. Watering the day of installation is critical. Water should penetrate turf & sub soil until water has penetrated 75-100mm into subsoil.
To measure the water penetration, pull back a corner of turf to make sure the underneath soil is very wet. For another test, prove a screwdriver into the soil – if there is sufficient moisture in the soil, the screwdriver will penetrate at least 50-100mm into the soil. If not, you need to apply more water.
Look for stress signs in your lawn. If the grass leaves are wilting, curling up or there appears to be dull or dry patches, a good watering is usually needed.
Be certain that your new lawn has enough moisture to survive hot, dry or windy periods.
Step 5 MOWING
The first mowing should begin 2-3 weeks after installation or when it can no longer be moved. Mow at 40mm in height. Ensure that mower blades are sharp to avoid tearing and bruising your new lawn.
FERTILISING
To ensure a healthy lawn we suggest you fertilise every 4-6 weeks, with a fertilising applicater. This will give you an even cover. It is important to thoroughly water fertiliser in. Use a Dynamic lifter about every 3 months.
